Polio Eradication
Vaccines are critical to the prevention of polio, but unfortunately there are many parts of the world that don't have broad access to the polio vaccine. Our rotary supports these communities both financially and donating our time to travel to distribute medicine that changes the lives of individuals and the broader community.
- Reduced Incidence: Since the first vaccination campaign in 1979, Polio cases have been reduced by 99.9%
- Immunized Billions: Rotary has helped immunize 2.5 billion children in 122 countries
- Fostered Collaboration: Founded PolioPlus in 1985 and help form the Polio Global Eradication Initiative
- Raised Money:
Rotarians contributed more than $1.8 Billion to polio eradication and surveillance efforts

World Hunger
Malnourishment can be devastating and Chanhassen Rotarians participate in events such as meal packing at Feed My Starving Children in Chanhassen to help eliminate hunger epidemic globally.
In two hours, 20 Rotarians packed a total of 4,320 meals, enough to feed roughly 12 children for one year. The event is a great example of what we do, where volunteers felt a strong sense of purpose from volunteering all while having fun.

Mothers & Children
Our Rotary Club has established Advocacy for Mothers and Children as a key driver for our funding programs. According to the World Health Organization (WHO) “ Maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality continue to be a challenge for developing countries. While 99% of maternal deaths occur in developing countries, more than half of these deaths take place in sub-Saharan Africa Our club has contributed significant funding to Establish the Kilimanjaro Mission Hospital maternity center with medical and laboratory equipment and resources, including a State of the art Blood gas analyzer. The center will play a significant role in improving health outcomes for mothers and infants, removing most of the current barriers to maternity care in rural Kenya.
The maternity center will provide a place for women to stay during their labor, to prevent accidentally giving birth during a long journey, or arriving too early and needing to make the journey back and forth to her village.
